Short commentary on “A Sip of Scripture” from Third Way Cafe

False prophets

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? (Matthew 7: 15-16)

Here’s a list of some of the advertisers presented by Google mail to me, based on the Sip of Scripture “Anabaptist Thought for the Day” email containing the verse above, with a bit of false prophesy testing:

  • Who’s your Perfect Lover? Predict exactly, down to the name, who your perfect lover is. Try it! Yeah right–my perfect lover is a matter of prophecy. Either “my perfect lover” is the woman I married (and this is a matter of record, not prophecy), or else this is a temptation to break my marriage vows.
  • Free: Is the Bible True? Can you believe the Holy Bible? Can its words be proven? Order free now. This is a booklet that attempts to prove that scripture scientifically, although the scripture itself seems to say it’s for “training in righteousness,” not modernist science. Plus, remember, tanstaafl.
  • Tithing is Un-Scriptural under the New Covenant. Stop guilt. See yourself and prove this truth. A basic Bible ranter; at least it encourages people to “see for themselves.”
  • A New World Order: Coming USA & Rome Behind it. Are you ready for it? Learn Bible prophecy Yes, let’s declare roughly half of the world’s nominally Christian as being led by antichrist. And perhaps you haven’t noticed, but their seems to be a new kind of world disorder, and it’s not completely wrong to say the US is behind it.
  • Bible Study, Genesis 1-11 New Perspectives and Translations for the Genesis 1-11 Bible Record! More scripture-as-modernist-science bull.
  • Apostolic Sermon Outlines. Over 2350 Bible Studies and Sermons From over 110 Pentecostal Preachers “Apostolic” seems a bit strong, but could be a useful resource, although you do have to pay for it.
  • Free Quickverse Bible CD. Nonprofit gives away free Bible Study Software. Maybe not so bad–it does look like the CD is free, but remember, tanstaafl.
  • $1200/Hr Jobs? Apply Now And Make Up To $300 In the Next 15 Minutes! Hahahahahahahaha. I don’t think so.
