The Spirit is a gentleman?

with 3 comments

A scripture on the Holy Spirit:

Do not put out the Spirit’s fire. (1 Thessalonians 5:19)

The Spirit is a gentleman,
Unassuming and polite?
He’s more like a drunken friend
Who shows up in the night,
Who wakes you from your pleasant dreams
And drags you out to have a talk
About what is and what only seems.
And then he drags you on a walk,
And then–and then, he starts to sing.
He forces you to live, a prod
To savor every thing:
A fiery burning god.
The Spirit is no gentleman
Well-dressed and always right;
The Spirit is a flaming friend
Who shows up in the night.
