COMMUNION . . . Preacher and Seeker Invite Us to the Lord’s Table

Preacher: “For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, . . . ”

Seeker: We are direct recipients of God’s grace. We come before you Lord to receive again your instruction and mercy.

Preacher: “ . . . that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed . . .”

Seeker: When let the evil one have control of our lives, we betray you. When we doubt that God and our Lord Christ reign supreme, we betray you. When we refuse to admit our sins and believe we do not need forgiveness, we betray you.

Preacher: “took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you.”

Seeker: Your body Lord, broken for us. Grant us mercy and forgiveness.

Preacher: “Do this in remembrance of me.”

Seeker: We will remember Lord.

Preacher: “In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, . . .”

Seeker: For our sake Lord, you accepted the bitter cup of death, and turned it into renewed life. Selah!

Preacher: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

Seeker: We will remember Lord.

Preacher: “For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”

Seeker: We will remember Lord. We will remember your sacrifice and your teachings. Your compassion and your gentleness. They are set before us like a standard and we will commit ourselves, each day of our life, to follow you. Praise God for we are a forgiven and renew people. Selah!
